Pressed from olives grown at their olive ranch in Temecula, California, the olive oils from the Temecula Olive Oil Company are fresh, flavorful, and healthful. We chanced upon their little oasis of a store/tasting room at Old Town San Diego and knew we wanted to bring something home. The store is well-stocked with a variety of olive oils (naturally), balsamic vinegars that pair nicely with the oils, stuffed olives, herbs, rubs, dips as well as non-food items such as soaps, candles, and lotions made with Temecula olive oil.
You get to choose from early harvest (robust and green) or late harvest (buttery and nutty) oils, and straight or flavored ones. Not wanting something extraneous to mask the taste of the oil, I was initially hesitant about selecting a flavored oil but a sampling of the Roasted Garlic Reserve Olive Oil dispelled any doubts – it is wonderfully balanced and flavorful. Yes, you’ve got to like garlic, and if you do, it’s the kind of oil that will make your eyes and taste buds light up with appreciation. The suggested pairing of their Citrus Reserve Olive Oil with their Vanilla & Fig Balsamic Vinegar also works beautifully. Together with Olivum, an unflavored buttery blend of varietals, both the Roasted Garlic and the Citrus oils are in their sampler pack – a great introduction to their collection. Other flavors include Fresh Basil, Fresh Blood Orange, Picante Pepper, Hickory Smoked, and Fresh Grapefruit. If you want your oil unadulterated, try their Olio Nuovo when it’s in season, Le Caprice de Nature (early harvest), or Molto Burrosa (late harvest).Price:
