Chikusen Yukata

Distinctive yukatas from Tokyo's oldest kimono shop

Yukata is a light, informal kimono usually made of cotton or linen that is worn in the summer, particularly during fireworks and festivals. A good place to shop for a distinctive yukata is Chikusen (竺仙), the oldest kimono/yukata store in Tokyo with roots dating to 1842. They take pride in their dyeing processes and patterns which are unique in the industry. Although also famous for their Edo Komon Kimono, Chikusen now focusses on yukatas – their beautiful designs often grace the pages of Japanese fashion magazines.
