Shoubai Iron Birdcage Lantern

We stumbled upon the Shoubai Art gallery at Tianzifang in Shanghai and were immediately captivated by these iron birdcage lanterns with beautiful paper cutting on the shade. Available in white, black, and red, these lanterns meld the traditional craft of paper cutting and contemporary design. We bought three. They are the creations of modern painter and master paper cutter, Li Shoubai (李守白), who focusses on culture and scenes of Shanghai and is a Master of Shanghai Arts and Crafts.
